RED SEPTEMBER's songs are like days in a
life. Just as some days are fast, others are slow. Some are light and humorous, others
serious and sober. Since a life cannot be judged by just one day, Red September is a band
that resists being pinned down by any single song. Songwriter Peter
Schorn's unique take on the world (fueled by caffeine and annoyance), create songs
that vary in tone from being a sympathetic friend to being the loud guy at the end of the
bar yelling about how the world is going to hell, (and is he the only one noticing?), to
anyone in earshot. Combined with a commitment to powerhouse live performance and a desire
to make the music world safe once again for the honest, hard-working, self-indulgent
guitar solo, Red September fuses intelligent lyrics, pop sensibility and a cynical
attitude into a swirling wall of sound & fury that is familiar, yet indescribable.
RED SEPTEMBER is: Peter
Schorn: Lead vocals, guitar; Paul
Brown: Drums; Cliff Finch: Bass, backing vocals;
Mark Murawski: Guitar
QUOTES:
"[Wake Up Call"] bristles with
brains and rock brawn, with punk vigor thrown in for good measure and pop
overtones to get listeners’ heads bobbing." –C&G Papers-Metro Detroit area.
“This trio specialize in
well-crafted punk rock and roll rife with soaring harmonies and great powerpop
hooks. You’ll find this an enjoyable spin from start to finish.
Fantastic!”-The Big Takeover
“Wake Up Call unleashes
11 tremendous tracks brimming with hard-edged yet heartfelt harmonies.”-SciFi
Magazine
"Although the name might give
the impression the band is shooting for a bleak sound, the music is quite
poppy and fun. Happy guitars share the spotlight with good rock and roll hooks
and harmonies. But despite the pop edge, [the] songs are not without meaning."
-The Detroit News
“Great stuff, this! [Wake Up
Call] packs a one-two punch of poppy, yet hard-driving rock with insightful
(and inciteful) lyrics.”–EQ Fan Zine
“They craft catchy, hungry pop
songs that are drenched in punk attitude and guitar lifted straight from
Husker Du. This band has a strong collection of songs that stick to the
listener’s brain quite easily. A lot of quality music can be found here.”- All
Music Guide
“Red September is more than
your average US rock band. They sound like the Ramones, Replacements and the
more power-pop side of Husker Du and share with Bob Mould a gloomy view of the
world wrapped up in loud and energizing music.” –Soundsxp.com U.K.
“A rather surprising lot, Red
September is. What I figured would be just another punk band actually turned
out to be one heck of a find. “This Is Life” is a throwback to the late '80s
power pop scene. It's a gem to say the least. “This Is Life” is an impressive
album that entertained throughout. A guilty pleasure that you'll want to
indulge in.” -Fifty-Fifty-Miami
“Red September blares straight
forward rock n’ roll without the bullshit and reminds us about the great music
brewed in the Detroit scene.” -The Michigander
“Wake Up Call” begs for
attention and is likely to receive it” -Altarnative.com
“This Is Life” is a very
literate and insightful commentary on the quirkiness of modern society,
delivered with an ironic and sometimes humorous wit…guitar driven rock
instilled with great urban energy backed by superb melody and sophistication.
Highly recommended!” - -Renegade Newsletter-East Lansing, MI
“Rock city pop with mondo lead
guitar, harmonies, production and a positive, observational outlook, point to
a potential breakthrough act. With stuff like this, who could possibly forget
the Motor City?” -Flipside Magazine-Los Angeles
“This Is Life” has an
alternative flavor, a punk attitude, pop songwriting flair, and enough
ass-kicking axework to please guitar rock fans. Add to that the sick,
irreverent, sarcastic humor in the songs like “My God (Can Beat Up Your God)”,
and the only remaining question is ‘Why aren’t the major labels salivating
yet?’ -Renegade Newsletter
“These guys are well worth
checking out, one shouldn’t hesitate to actively hunt for Red September.” -
Tail Spins Magazine-Chicago, IL
“Having heard some ‘buzz’ on
Detroit’s Red September, I stuck around...They were good! -Scene
Magazine-Cleveland
“Red September kicks things
off with “Living In Oblivion”, pure power-pop at its finest!” -Jam
Rag-Detroit, MI
“Straight ahead rock and roll
from the Motown, nothing flashy. Just rock as it should be.”- Etch
Magazine-East Lansing
“This band could become
something substantial.” -Rockpile Magazine
‘Fans of hard-rockin'
power-pop a la Foo Fighters will appreciate Red September's cheerful
tunefulness and breathless energy. - Demouniverse
