WHO WE ARE...
Twenty three years ago, in a basement on Detroit's eastside, local promoter, supporter and fan, Sue Summers, was tired of the lack of support and camaraderie that surrounded the local music scene. "I was sick of no one noticing anymore!", she says. She got some of her favorite bands to work together toward a common goal, "To Get This Music Heard!" So CHAOS NETWORK & RECORDS, a band collective and indie label was formed. Two successful Midwest compilations and many releases later, Chaos was voted "Best Local Record Label" in the 1993 Detroit Music Awards. After a brief battle with the big boys, Chaos fought mega-conglomerate Sony and won, though a name change was in order. Chaos became STATIC and was named "Best Local Record Label" again in 1994 and 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2004 and has been nominated every year since! STATIC RECORDS is Detroit's REAL independent label, real in the sense that it is completely on it's own. It stands out by being the most eclectic label in the city, featuring all styles of music, not just one sound. From rock, pop, punk to metal, Static has something for everyone. The "little label that could" has reached beyond the city limits, across the country and around the world. STATIC RECORDS 29 releases have been heard throughout the globe from the Canada, the U.K., Italy, Poland, Sweden, Romania, Mexico, the Philippines,Yugoslavia, Australia, China, Japan, Norway, Chile, Spain and even Russia! (just to name a few!) To show the world there still is a vibrant music scene here and not just Motown memories, STATIC RECORDS will continue to showcase some of Detroit's best acts into the 21st Century! BIO
Static Network is my
PR/Promotion/Booking/special events company. We have been booking local and
national entertainment in Detroit for over 25 years and have worked with a
number of clubs including: Finney's Pub, Alvin's, 313.jac/Jacoby's,The Foundry,
The Sanctuary, Lili's, Paychecks and currently at The Corktown Tavern.
We produce these annual events; The
Erotic Poetry & Music Festival, Big 80's Flashback Bash, Home for the Holidaze
-singer/songwriter showcase and the Todd's reunions. All have raised thousands
of dollars for charities such as Cinderfund.org, Paws with a Cause, Midwest Aids
Coalition and Detroit homeless shelters.

The Motor City has always been known for great music. Many legends in music from
Motown to the MC5, Alice Cooper and
Iggy & The Stooges all broke out of the streets of
Detroit. In the late 80's & 90's the music industry looked elsewhere, ignoring the new
talent brewing in rock & roll's own backyard.
