This trio hailing from Detroit Rock City definitely does their city proud. Forge is a force to be reckoned with, not only knowing how to hammer a riff home ("Adam 3,") but they also have the uncanny ability to blur the edges when it comes to writing a hit single while maintaining their rock sensibilities. Hooky and heavy is a winning combo these days, and it looks like this Motor City machine has put together quite an arsenal ("Speed and Timing," "Lost," Drop In Time.") Pick this up if you like 90's rock that actually rocks.

Listening to the 11 rough-and-tumble tunes on this CD, it's pretty clear that all three members of the band Forge grew up on a steady diet of video games, comic books, and Science Fiction films. Joystick jockeys will definitely enjoy "skimming the surface of an unknown world" on a delicious ditty entitled "Prove", while Sci-Fi junkies should be enthralled by the plight of "Adam 3", a disaffected automaton that longs for independence. The aggressive industrial/metal melodies are generally entertaining and surprisingly cathartic. -- Jeff Berkwits - Sci-Fi Magazine

"With "Trials", Forge retains it's title as "Hero-Metal Champions of the Universe". Someone is going to make a superhero movie about these guys, and this is going to be the soundtrack!" - Musiczine

"The guys definitely out did themselves. First of all, I must say, the cover of "TRIALS" is awesome, it has that whole Lost in Space meets Star Wars vibe, and the music isn't far off. It's a CD that is destined to be a soundtrack. You could probably put Phantom Menace on mute with their CD playing in place of the music and get a better effect of the movie. It is awesome! It's loud and hard, but yet it can fit many individuals music listening pleasure! Excellent job gents!" -  Aimee Spencer - Real Detroit

Detroit's Forge has a work ethic that recalls the notion "life is work." But when your work is as heavy, searching and exact as what Forge has laid down both on record and for the kids live, work and rock and roll both take on the air of a struggle for freedom. So it is with their new album, the appropriately-titled, "Trials" (Static), that they strike a balance in their trademark hard 'n' heavy "future rock" sound between strictly sci-fi-for-its-own-sake and as a metaphor for escape from a heavy-duty real world. - Chris Handyside - Metro Times
